My name is Brad. My friends call me B-Rad. My life is different than others.
I have lived in the same house all of my life. And behind my house was a trail
for really anything and anyone can go. But that had gotten taken down and a bike
trail had been put in. I used to watch them go by my house during the day. I had
one took my bicycle down the trail and I had found that is was to rough to go on
so I had turned around and went home and just watched everyone else have fun. I
had never brought it up to my parents about getting one or even getting a ride
on one. Mainly because I was five and I thought that only cretin people could
ride them. It wasn't until I was probably nine or ten when I had gotten my first
ride on one. My dad and I were helping a friend of his lay out cement for there
drive way when I had seen the ATV. I had gone over by it on one of the breaks
and I just looked at all of the different items on it and all of the controls
trying to figure out what they all did. (At that time I knew that anyone could
have one but I still did not bring it up to my parents to get me one or to get a
ride on one.) That's when the owners had come up to me with a Popsicle and asked
if I wont to get a ride on it. Because of what my parents had taught me I had
said that I did not a ride. They must have known that I really wonted to get a
ride so they had talked to my dad and my dad told me that I could go for a ride
if I wonted to. So I then told my dad that I did wont a ride but only if my dad
would go with me. So my dad and I had gotten on the ATV and went for a small
ride. Since that day I have always loved to ride atvs.
Now I was 12 and I drive a Yfz450 My parents had gotten land up in Northern
Wisconsin. Atving came with this land. Because there are trails 2 miles down the
rode from use and we didn't have to trailer them to the trail. So my dad had
gotten a 250 blaster from a guy in town. My dad had gotten this ATV the day I
was home from school sick. He had brought it home and gave my brother and sister
a ride. According to my mom I was to sick to go out side and get a ride. But
thanks for my dad I had gotten a ride that day. We probably had the Blaster for
about a year. In that time I had learned how to drive it by myself. And my dad
let me do the switching of the gears by my self. Then my dad came into a sweet
deal. He had gotten two 350 Big Bears for one set price. Of course I had to
drive them when they came home. These are semiautomatics and I learned pretty
fast how to shift with them. My mom and my older brother had gotten those. So I
was stuck on the back of the blaster and my sister was on the back of one of the
bears. Then I and my sister got our ATV certifications. I had passed but my
sister had crashed in the driving portion of the test and then took it again
later on and passed it. After that every weekend before we would go home, me and
my dad would go out on the trails for the last ride of the weekend. I would
drive one of the big bears and my dad would take the blaster. After my brother
had left for the army things got a little tough for me. But as the days went bye
I could concentrated less on him being gone and I got back to my normal self
again. Then my dad had asked one of his friends to come and fix one of our
windows. But before his friend came over my mom and dad had gone out in the
morning with his truck and trailer when. I thought that he went to go get some
of the supplies, but he had come home with a YFZ450 in the trailer. I was so
exited, but when I went up to my dad he said that it was for his friend that was
coming over. That he had picked it up for him since my parents went right by it
this morning. After that I was very disappointed. I had helped my dad get the
supplies out of the back of the truck and every time I went past the ATV I could
not keep my eyes off of it. Then after all of the supplies where in the house my
dad had asked if I could help him get it off of the trailer. So I helped him. We
had unbound it and pulled it off of the trailer. As I was running around the
trailer putting the trailer back together I herd it fire up and I saw my dad
take off. The only thing that went through my head was let me test it. Sure
enough he had come back around and told me to get my helmet. I got my helmet and
I had gotten on the machine. The first couple of times trying to take off I had
cut the engine out. Then I got it going. I could feel all of the power that just
wonted to get unleashed. Then after we were done riding, my dad looked at me and
asked how I liked it. I told him that I loved it and that we should get one just
like it. My dad looks at me and says well. I looked at him puzzled as he looks
back at me he said that it was our new ATV.
Now I am sixteen and I have gotten good at driving the YFZ. I love to ride in
any weather condition that there may be. (Rain, sleet, snow...) I am getting
good at pulling wheelies on the trails and I am starting to do jumps. I am
riding harder than most of the people in our group. I try to go threw the trails
as fast as I can and always taking chances at things. My biggest thing now is to
hit Race tracks. I won’t to feel what a pro feels. I also wont to hit the mud
puddles that we find on the trails, but I have a sport machine so I only hit the
sides of them or go slowly threw the middle of them.
